The production of sparkling wines has a long tradition in Germany and some of the most important companies in Champagne, such as Deutz or Krug, were founded by Germans. The base wine, made from finely selected, healthy Pinot Noir grapes from a parcel in the Ürziger Würzgarten, is fermented in traditional bottles and disgorged after at least 5 years in the bottle. Only then is the vintage sparkling wine put on sale.
