Great news! Today we are announcing the U.S. debut of a dry counterpart of our highly popular Dr. L Riesling.
Crisp and refreshing, our new 2014 Dr. L Riesling Dry pairs with a different range of foods than the original fruitier, off-dry Dr. L Riesling. Dr. L Dry’s medium weight, pure fruit and crisp texture make it a wonderful partner for fish, chicken or pork that have been simply grilled with lemon and herbs. It’s also excellent with grilled vegetables and is suitable for vegan diets.
Winemaker Ernst Loosen says: “Dry Rieslings are an important part of our heritage here in the Mosel and are becoming a bigger part of what we produce. The Dr. L Dry has already been available in Europe for a few years, but now that U.S. wine lovers are increasingly discovering dry Rieslings, we decided it was time to make it available in the new world.”
Dr. L Dry and the original Dr. L Riesling are Ernst Loosen’s entry level wines. Both Dr. L and Dr. L Dry Rieslings are produced with grapes from contracted growers throughout the Mosel River Valley who work closely with brothers Ernst and Thomas Loosen to achieve excellent quality and superb concentration in every vintage.
Both Dr. L Rieslings capture the elegant and racy characteristics of steep, slate-soil Mosel vineyards at a very reasonable price. We call them our “Welcome to the Mosel” wines.
